Ballarat Weekend
30 January 2021 - 31 January 2021
Ballarat weekend
30-31 January
The annual Ballarat weekend is a very low-key social event, organised by Glenn and me, and includes driving, chatting, eating and drinking (coffee of course). And you can participate in the Saturday or the Sunday, or both. Please let me know if you intend to attend, so that I can advise any venues that we are going to of numbers, particularly in our new Covid world.
We will gather from 11am on the Saturday, at the Vagg compound at 747 Midland Highway, Mount Rowan, where you will be able to have a catch-up chat and kick tyres.
To reach Mount Rowan from Melbourne follow the Western Freeway and take the third Ballarat exit (the Midland Highway, A300), turning right towards Creswick. Then drive about 2km until you see the Peugeot flags on the left. This is a busy road, so please take care.
BYO lunch. There will be a BBQ available if you want to cook a snag or two, and there will be prizes for everyone in a free raffle. Or have lunch on the way if it suits you better.
At this stage we are planning a drive in the local environs, leaving the compound around 2.30, and depending on the restrictions around Covid, we may have to have a coffee van and afternoon tea at the compound which will allow plenty of time to visit the Peugeot History shed, check out the workshop and make new friends. Alternatively, a coffee spot during the drive may be organised.
Dinner on Saturday evening will be at Ballarat Golf Club, which always puts on a good meal. We had a great time here last February.
We have booked eight double (Queen) rooms @ $140 and one twin room @ $155 at the Bell Tower Inn (within reasonable walking distance of the Golf Club) at 1845 Sturt Street, phone 5334 1600. Please quote booking number 82273. To be fair to the motel, I will be unreserving any unbooked rooms around the 10th of January, so please book by then if you can.
The motel will provide a refund if the event has to be cancelled because of Covid-19. (Keep an eye on the PCCV’s weekly News Events & Ads emails for advice on the Covid situation and any updates regarding the weekend.) If you don’t receive the updates via email, and want to come to the weekend and be kept up to date, please let me know and I will keep in touch.
Plans for the Sunday drive are still being finalised, but we promise it will be unforgettable, then finishing with lunch from which you will be able to head home. If you are planning to join us for Sunday lunch only, please let me know on 0407 271 972 or email paula.glenn@bigpond.com as we will need to provide numbers to the venues. At this stage, the plan is to begin Sunday’s activities from the Vagg compound.
We look forward to seeing you.
